Sunderland player Adam Johnson has been found guilty of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
The 28-year-old, who made 122 appearances for Sunderland and was capped by England 12 times, could face a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
"You must understand that when you return here at the end of March you will receive a substantial prison sentence," Judge Jonathan Ross said.
"You can say goodbye to your daughter. A prison sentence will mean you will not see her for some time."
Johnson admitted to grooming the girl and kissing her in his car, but denied that anything further took place.
He has been granted bail until he is sentenced in two weeks time.
