Former world No.1 Jelena Jankovic has crashed out of the Australian Open with a three set loss to German Laura Siegemund.

The No.19 seed claimed the first set, before being outplayed in the final two sets, eventually bowing out 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Siegemund, the world No.97, hit 49 unforced errors, but her aggressive shot making more than made up for it, as she hit a huge 50 winners, compared to Jankovic's 13.

Jankovic's failure to convert her opportunities came back to haunt her, as she won just three of 11 break points, while Siegemund claimed two of three break point opportunities.

Siegemund will face either Annika Beck or Timea Bacsinszky in the third round.
