Daria Gavrilova has continued her giant killing run, moving into the fourth round, as Tomas Berdych proved too good for Nick Kyrgios on night five of the 2016 Australian Open.

New Aussie Gavrilova defeated 28th seed Kristina Mladenovic in a three-set epic 6-4 4-6 11-9, which latest almost three hours.

The win sees her progress to the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

“I'm just really excited and want to hug the whole stadium!” Gavrilova said post match, grinning ear to ear.

“I get very emotional on court. I get frustrated which you can all probably see, but you can also see it when I'm happy and I'm glad you can see that as well.

“The crowd was great and pulled me through in the end. I can't thank them enough.

“I can say that was probably the best win of my career.”

Gavrilova will now face 10th seed Carla Suarez Navarro in the fourth round.

Earlier in the night, Fellow Aussie Nick Kyrgios was unable to get past world No.6 Tomas Berdych, going down 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Berydch will now take on Roberto Bautista Agut for spot in the quarter finals.
