Lewis Hamilton was the fastest man in Mexico for the opening niety minute free practice session on Friday, the reigning world champion dropping back to P2 by .004 of a second in the final session of the day. Temperatures were a lot cooler than the team expected and as such they weren't as prepared as they had hoped, but despite this, and a dirty circuit, it soon settled down to produce a good day's running.

Due to the higher altitude of this particular circuit, Lewis did a lot of work on his engine and brake systems to hopefully run trouble free on race day.

Once again Lewis was thrilled by the support shown by the Mexican crowd and he is hoping to continue with his strong form for the remainder of the weekendโ€ฆ

โ€œIt's great to be back here in Mexico. The support we've had here already is amazing - and it's only Friday!โ€ he said. โ€œThere's so much energy and enthusiasm for the sport here, which is great to see. It's been a solid day in terms of our programme for the weekend."

"The cars are obviously faster but lap times are pretty strong already. The track is feeling better than it did last year and I feel a lot more comfortable in the car than I did the first time we came to this circuit, so hopefully I can carry that through the rest of the weekend.โ€
