Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David are all under an injury cloud after Australia suffered three hamstring complaints during Monday night's win against Ireland in Brisbane at the T20 World Cup.
Finch is the biggest worry, however, all three players wound up off the field as Australia defended a score of 179 against the European nation.
Ireland wound up 42 runs short, although Australia missed an opportunity to improve their net run rate further after having Ireland on the ropes at 5 for 25 after 4 overs at one stage.
Finch, who top-scored with 63 off 44 balls as he finally found some form, has concerns that his tournament may be over after the hamstring injury.
He injured himself during the powerplay and left the field, with Matthew Wade taking over as captain.
It's understood a scan will determine whether Finch can play any further role in the tournament.
"Little hammy twinge I think. I'll get a scan tomorrow. Unfortunately, I've had a history with them so we'll see how it goes," Finch said.
"It doesn't feel too bad at the moment but generally overnight they can stiffen up. We'll get a scan and get the full results. Very hopeful (of playing Afghanistan) but we'll know more (Tuesday)."
If Finch can return during the tournament, Australia will likely to go the short term solution of Steve Smith, who is in the squad, with one of the other batters - potentially Mitch Marsh, Wade or Glenn Maxwell - opening the batting. Cameron Green is another option after he filled in for David Warner at the top of the order on a recent tour of India and excelled.
Wade would likely take over the captaincy while Finch is out.
If Finch is ruled out of the tournament, then a change in the squad will be considered, with Ben McDermott seemingly leading the way to come into the side and open alongside David Warner.
It's understood both Stoinis - who has battled injury recently - and David's injuries are less serious, and both are a chance to play Afghanistan in Adelaide on Friday, although they too will await scan results.
