Highest transfer fees in history

As Gonzalo Higuain's deal with Juventus met Napoli's buy out clause of 90 million euros, it became the third highest transfer deal in history, and the biggest domestic deal of all time.

Real Madrid have the honour of owning the two highest paid for players in the world, after deals for Cristiano Ronaldo (94 million euros) in 2009 and Gareth Bale (100.8 million euros) in 2013.

Higuain's fee also broke the record for a South American player, eclipsing the 86.2 million euro deal Barcelona paid for Brazilian, Neymar in 2013.

Luis Suarez rounds out the top five biggest deals of all time, after Barcelona snapped up the Uruguayan from Liverpool in 2014 for 81.7 million euros.

James Rodriguez (80m), Kevin De Bruyne (75m), Angel Di Maria (75m), Zinedine Zidane (73m) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (69.5m) round out the top 10, with Real Madrid and Barcelona dominating the list of buyers, with the Spanish clubs accounting for seven of the top 10 transfer fees.
