Ganzalo Higuain has turned down a new offer from Napoli, fueling speculation he could be on his way out of the Serie A club.

While Higuain's current deal expires in June 2018, the striker's agent, who is also his brother, has told Radio Continental that they have turned down a new deal from Napoli.

“Gonzalo won't renew his contract with Napoli,” Nicolas Higuain told Radio Continental.

“Napoli are currently asking for the payment of his release clause as a condition for his departure, but Gonzalo and I decided not to extend the deal.

“We'll see what happen next year, we could even wait until the contract's expiry date.”

The Argentine has attracted strong interest this off-season, particularly from Premier League side, Liverpool.

Higuain dominated Serie A last season, netting 36 goals in 35 appearances, for a total of 91 goals in 146 appearances in three seasons at the club.
