Even though a new deal between Sauber and Japanese engine giant, Honda, was announced earlier this season, there have been rumours over the past week that the deal may not be going ahead after all.
New team boss Frederick Vasseur has confirmed to the French press that this is a possibility, especially when the situation between McLaren and Honda is so tenuous and due to the fact that the new deal was not signed off on before the previous team owner left.
Speaking for the first time since being appointed to his new role at the Hinwil based squad, Vasseur admitted that the Honda engine deal is his first order of business, especially when there are other more powerful engine suppliers willing to supply the team.
