The New York Knicks have just swept in the conference finals against the Cavs, guaranteeing them a spot in the NBA Finals for 2026, making them one step closer to their first championship since 1973.
Since going down 2-1 against the Hawks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Mike Brown and the Knicks have completely flipped the script and become one of the more dominant playoff teams we have seen. But how have they done this?
Efficient offence
In the playoffs, the Knicks have turned into an offensive juggernaut completely from nowhere. Led by their stars Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony-Towns. Their offensive rating of 124.1 is among the best in the playoffs at the moment.
They have also been ultra-efficient at shooting the basketball, shooting 59.3% from the 2-point range and 39.6% from the three, which are the best percentages among playoff teams.
Even though they are playing weaker teams in the Eastern Conference, you can't take their insane shooting percentages away from them.
Point Differential
In the Knicks 11-game playoff winning streak, they have had the greatest point differential of +262, across an 11-game win streak in NBA history, playoffs and regular season.
It has been complete dominance for them in the Eastern Conference, and they have really found their groove over this insane win streak.
Role players starring in their role
We all know the stars of this roster, but it is the guys behind them that has been starring for the Knicks, being a main reason for the win streak.
First, the play style of Og Anunoby and Mikal Bridges has been unbelievable, both really stepping into their role and excelling. Then bench players like Landry Shamet, Mitchell Robinson, and Miles McBride have all been quite tremendous in their impact for the squad.
After sweeping the Cavs, the Knicks will now face the winner of the Spurs or Thunder matchup; whoever they get will be their toughest opponent by far. Many will have them as underdogs, but they will come into the series on fire and clicking very well.
Anything is possible for the Knicks and they have every chance to be crowned NBA champions in 2026.
