Steve Smith has refused to reveal Australia's XI for the second Test beginning in Brisbane on Thursday.
Speaking to the media, the acting captain said the Australian camp will assess the conditions of the pitch come the morning prior to naming the team.
“A heap of things are on the table. We'll wait and see what the wicket is like," Smith said, per Fox Sports.
Smith has left the door ajar for Pat Cummins to return to the XI after missing the opening Test through injury.
Despite Cricket Australia not naming Cummins in the 14-man squad on Friday, Smith didn't rule out a shock return, likely coming at the expense of Brendan Doggett or veteran Nathan Lyon.
"He's tracking really nicely, he knows his body well, but we'll wait and see,” Smith said of Cummins.
“He's looked pretty good to me the way he's bowled in the nets."
The in-form Josh Inglis is firmly in the mix to replace the injured Usman Khawaja after scoring a century against the England Lions two weeks ago. The Western Australian is yet to play a test in Australia after debuting in Sri Lanka earlier this year.
“He's obviously a pretty attacking batsman. Did really well on his debut in Sri Lanka, he's been in really good form," Smith said.
"So if he gets his opportunity I'm sure he'll do really well for us."
Inglis is likely to slot into the middle order, while Travis Head will remain at the top of the order after his swashbuckling second innings century in Perth.
Meanwhile, England have confirmed one change to their XI, with off-spinner Will Jacks coming in to replace the injured Mark Wood.
