Legendary cricket pair Justin Langer and Raelee Thompson have been inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.

The pair become the 58th and 59th inductees following its inauguration 26 years ago, joining the recently inducted Merv Hughes, Lisa Sthalekar, Craig McDermott, Dean Jones and Ricky Ponting.

An eight-person panel between the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame Committee, Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association selected Langer and Thompson for their contributions to the game.

"Justin and Raelee are extremely deserving inductees and it is wonderful to acknowledge and celebrate the immense achievements and contributions of these legends of our game," Cricket Australia boss Nick Hockley said, via Cricket.com.au.

"Justin has had a tremendous impact on Australian cricket, both at the top of the order alongside Matthew Hayden, as a coach of Western Australia and more recently as Head Coach of the Australian men's team.

"Raelee has been a leader and champion of cricket as a sport for women and girls through an incredible period of evolution, both as a proud player and captain of her country and continuing that passion towards ensuring that the game continues to progress and flourish for future generations."

Currently the senior coach of Australia's men's side, Langer's contribution to Australian cricket comes both as a batsman and mentor, having amassed over 28,000 first-class runs.

Langer featured in 105 Tests for Australia, making his debut in 1993 against the West Indies before calling time on his career in 2007 following a dominant Ashes series over England.

Thompson, seen as a pioneer for Women's cricket, played 16 Tests for Australia, with her first coming in 1972.

The former right-arm fast bowler also captained her country on four occasions and took 81 wickets across her tenure in Test and ODI formats.

Thompson becomes just the seventh female added to the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, joining Sthalekar, Sharon Tredrea, Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Karen Rolton, Betty Wilson and Belinda Clark.

Hall of fame members are eligible for selection following five years on from their retirement from the game, with no more than two inductees added each year.
