With the Perth Supersprint now just a distant memory, the Supercars Championship moves onto the Winton Supersprint for round five of the 2017 season this weekend.
For Preston Hire's Lee Holdsworth, Winton holds some good memories with P6 in qualifying last year and a top ten finish in the race.
The circuit is definitely one Lee knows well and is very comfortable with being that it is the venue for a lot of the team's testing, so the hope for this weekend is that he can once again show the team's true potential with a solid performance, especially with a new improved race car beneath him.
“Relly looking forward to Winton,” Lee said. “We had good speed last year so hopefully we return with the same or better form which would give our team a shot at running towards the pointy end. We showed a good step up in qualifying in Perth, but weren't able to transform it into results due to pitstops and direction with car set up. The focus again for this round is speed and consistency in all areas, including pitstops.”
The #18 driver is hoping to harness the power from an improved car after the team spent the last week working hard back in their Waverly workshop to make sdme important changes to the Preston Hire contender in order to give Lee a better set up balance come Friday as well as extra pit stop training to ensure they don't repeat the issues from Perth.
With rain washing out the Tasmanian round recently and wet weather also hitting Phillip Island, the teams will once again be greeted with wild weather for Winton, if the weatherman is to be believed that is.
