Leicester wasted their chance to extend their lead at the top of the table, while Chelsea's red hot form continued in the overnight EPL action.
The Foxes drew 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion, to move just three points ahead of second placed Tottenham, who have a game in hand.
West Brom opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Salomon Rondon, before Danny Drinkwater equalised on the half-hour mark.
Leicester then restored normality in first-half stoppage time through Andy King, thanks to a brilliant pass from Marc Albrington, which was delightfully flicked on by Mahrez to King, who scored the goal.
However, just five minutes into the second stanza, West Brom levelled the scores thanks to a sublime free kick from Craig Gardner.
The visitors received a free kick 22 yards out from goal after Mahrez was penalised for a handball. Gardner then curled a stunning free kick over the wall, which left Leicester keeper Schmeichel rooted to the spot.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have continued their good form, beating Norwich 2-1 to climb to 8th spot on the EPL table, thanks to goals from Kenedy and Diego Costa.
