The Liverpool legends were a class above, as they recorded a 4-0 win over the Australian legends at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 40,815.

The game featured the likes of former Reds' captain Steven Gerard and fellow Champions League title winners Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia and John Arne Riise.

The Australian side featured former Socceroo stars Brett Emerton, Craig Foster, Craig Moore, Robbie Slater and Jason Culina.

Luis Garcia opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a delightful run into the area, splitting the Australian defence, before beating goalkeeper Zelko Kalac at the near post.

Garcia then doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, heading home from a Steven Gerard cross.

Liverpool's greatest ever goal scorer, Ian Rush, then made it three with a tap in from another Gerrard cross, who was the clear standout player of the match, before John Aldridge rounded out the win with a fourth goal for the Reds in stoppage time.
