EPL giants Liverpool are set to meet the £32.5 million release clause for Christian Benteke, as they look to poach the Belgium striker fro Aston Villa.

Benteke, who has two years left on his contract at Aston Villa, scored 12 goals in 12 games at the end of last season to help keep Villa from being relegated for a total of 49 goals in 101 matches for the club.

It is understood that Liverpool were not originally prepared to match the asking price for the striker, but now that the Sterling deal to Manchester City has been finalised, the Reds have the funds to spend.
