Former Adelaide United star Awer Mabil says he is ready to take the next step in his development in 2016.

Mabil currently plies his trade at Denmark club Midtjylland, after leaving the Reds last year.

The 20-year-old has produced glimpses of good form, but says that after six months in Europe, the time is now to show what he is really capable of.

“Next season is the season where I'm going to have to show what I can do,” Mabil told FourFourTwo.

“This season is a learning season. It's a new league for me. It was the same in the A-League.

“In my first season I learnt coming off the bench and last season I tried to show what I've learnt from the previous season.

“It starts again for me. It's a learning season. Whatever happens this season happens.

“I want to score goals and assist goals.

“In the first six months they weren't expecting me to do what I've done now. I'm going the right way to have a successful time here.

“The second half of the season is very important for me personally. I'm really looking forward to that.”

Mabil has made eight appearances in his first six months, seven off the bench, after signing a five year deal with the Danish champions last year.
