Central Coast Mariners veteran Josh Rose is set to join Melbourne City, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The defender will reportedly have a medical at City headquarters on Wednesday before finalising his move to the Victorian club.

It is a further blow for the under siege Mariners on the eve of the A-League season, after coach Tony Walmsley was sacked earlier this week.

Rose, 34, made 165 appearances for the Mariners since joining the club in 2010.

He started his career in the A-League with the New Zealand Knights, before joining Romanian Liga I side, FC Universitatea Craiova, where played 113 matches in four years between 2005 and 2009.
