Scott Mclaughlin secured his tenth Armour All pole position of the 2017 Supercars season at the Queensland Raceway this afternoon ahead of the first race for the Ipswich Supersprint weekend.
The DJR Team Penske driver was on absolute blistering lap with only a few minutes to go in the session when a heap of other drivers, who were preparing for their final runs, were driving slowly around him.
However, while he managed to get through then exceptionally well, the LDM entry of Alex Davison brought his charge to a halt. Despite this, the Kiwi managed to hang on to pole position by a fraction of a second over the Team Vortex entry of Craig Lowndes, who always does at well at this circuit.
Chaz Mostert finished third and will start alongside Tim Slade on row two of the grid with Mark Winterbottom and Rick Kelly on row three.
Shane van Gisbergen and Michael Caruso finished seventh and eighth fastest with Jamie Whincup a disappointing ninth to start on the fifth row of the grid alongside Cameron Waters.
