With the opening weekend of the season now under three weeks away, Arsenal have been dealt another huge injury blow following the loss of Per Mertesacker until next year.
Mertesacker injured his knee in Arsenal's pre-season match with Lens on Friday, and is expected to be out for a few months on the sidelines.
This leaves Arsenal extremely short in their defensive stocks, as Laurent Koscielny will miss the start of the season following his Euro 2016 commitments, as well as Gabriel who didn't travel with the team on their US pre-season tour due to sickness.
Not only are Arsenal short defensively, but after their bid for Alexandre Lacazette was rejected from Lyon, they now face a depleted attack when they open the season at home to Liverpool.
Danny Welbeck is joined by Mertesacker on the long term injury list, and with Olivier Giroud on break following the Euros, the Gunners may only have Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom and Joel Campbell to choose from up forward.
