World No.2 Andy Murray says he will pull out of the Australian Open to be at the birth of his first child.

Murray's wife, Kim, is due to give birth just a few weeks after the tournament finishes.

However, if Kim goes into premature labour, Murray says he will have no hesitation in giving up a shot at the title to be present at the birth.

"I'd go home. For sure, yes," Murray told Sportsmail.

"It's obviously important. I want to make sure at the beginning I am there as much as I can be to try and help out, just be there for whatever is really required of me."

Murray is currently second favourite to win the Australian Open at $6.25 with TopSport, behind world No.1 Novak Djokovic at $1.80.
