New Zealand great Martin Crowe has passed away aged 53 after a long battle with cancer.
Crowe was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in October 2012 and underwent treatemnt for cancer, before it returned in late 2014.
Crowe is arguably New Zealand's greatest ever cricketer, scoring 5,444 Test runs at an average of 45.36 from 77 matches.
He also played 143 ODIs for the Black Caps, scoring 4,704 runs at an average of 38.55.
"It is with heavy hearts that the family of Martin Crowe, MBE advise his death," his family said in a statement.
"Diagnosed in September 2014 with terminal double hit lymphoma he passed away peacefully today, Thursday 3rd March in Auckland surrounded by family.
"The family request privacy at this time."
