Five days after being hit by a car whilst cycling in Italy, former MotoGP champion, Nicky Hayden has died.
The 2006 champion was out with friends training after the recent round of Superbikes and was hit by a Peugeot on the Rimini coastline last week.
He was transported to the intensive care unit of Cesena's Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in a serious condition with head and chest injuries. The hospital later confirmed that the Kentucky Kid, as he had been nicknamed, had suffered a ‘a serious polytrauma' or in layman terms, multiple traumatic injuries.

“Dear Nicky, you will be missed. May God hold you high, you are forever in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers to you and your loved ones,” he wrote on Facebook.
“I'm shattered after the news. We will never forget you!” added Marc Marquez.
“My thoughts are with your family and loved ones,” wrote Max Verstappen.
