Tim Paine has been left out of Tasmania's opening squad of the summer, however, coach Jeff Vaughan is still open to the possibility of him playing in the Sheffield Shield competition.
The Tigers unveiled a 14-man squad to play their first two games of the one day cup on Wednesday and Friday against South Australia and Queensland repsectively, both at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Alongside the exclusion of Paine, the other surprise came in the form of Billy Stanlake, who has made a switch in all three formats of the game to Hobart this year, but is set to miss the opener through injury.
Brad Hope and Mitch Owen are the only other contracted players who were unavailable through injury, with plenty of international experience included for the opening two matches.
All of Jackson Bird, Ben McDermott and Peter Siddle have been included, while Jordan Silk will take the captaincy of the side for the opening two games.
A strong bowling attack features Sam Rainbird and Riley Meredith alongside the uncontracted Tom Rogers, while the likes of Jake Doran, Caleb Jewell and Beau Webster have also been included.
