It was a very productive day for the Williams Formula One team at the Bahrain International Circuit with the morning mostly spent undertaking aero investigations, and in the afternoon covering chassis and tyre work.
Gary Paffett was behind the wheel for the second and final day and as he has never been behind the wheel of the FW40 before, the Grove based squad were very interested in getting another driver's point of view and look at the differences in driving style from someone so experienced
Gary finished off the afternoon with some more aero runs, race starts and set-up, covering everything in the team's plan over the course of the 126 laps completed.
“It's been a while since I've done a full test in a Formula One car!” Gary said afterwards. “It's really good to be back in the car, really good. The cars this year with the increased downforce, and more grip in the tyres, are really nice to drive. We've had a really good day."
"We've done a lot of laps, which is really good, and we got all of our testing done. That's the purpose really, to get all the testing done, and then for me to go back and validate the simulator. So overall it was really nice to drive the car and I'm very happy with how the day went.”
