Queensland veteran wicketkeeper Chris Hartley yesterday became the first player to take 500 Sheffield Shield catches.
Hartley reached the milestone on day three of Queensland's Shield match against Tasmania, taking a diving catch to his right to dismiss George Bailey.
In reaching the milestone, the 33-year-old broke former Victorian wicketkeeper Darren Berry's record of 499 Sheffield Shield catches.
However, he still has a further 32 wickets to catch up to Berry's overall record of Shield dismissals (546), with Hartley currently sitting on 514.
