The Wellington Phoenix have reportedly been granted a 10-year licence extension in the A-League, after Football Federation Australia and the club came to an agreement.

Stuff.co.nz have reported that there will be various strings attached to the deal, which demand that the club continue to meet several agreed benchmarks to remain in the competition.

It is a major back flip for the FFA, who originally only offered the Phoenix a four-year licence extension.

An announcement on the extension is said to be imminent.
