Valentino Rossi recorded the fastest time of the one day test session at the Brno Circuit on Monday where the teams remained after Sunday's race to test new solutions aimed at the rest of the 2017 MotoGP season and beyond.

The Doctor, who finished fourth in Sunday's race, completed 52 laps to finish a mere fraction of a second over Sunday's race winner, Repsol rider Marc Marquez.

“After yesterday‘s race it was good that we were able to get extra dry track time and do some testing that we didn‘t have time for during the weekend. Vale and Maverick tried the new fairing, the Öhlins carbon front forks and some other items,” said Yamaha's Massimo Meregalli. “There were a few positive and negative points, but overall the rider feedback has been very positive.”

Rossi's teammate, Maverick Vinales was third fastest a little over a tenth and a half off Valentino's pace with Jorge Lorenzo and Joahnn Zarco rounding out the top five.

“Maverick worked on the electronics and had a better feeling at the end of the test, and Valentino made a big step today, which resulted in him setting the fastest time of the session," Meregalli continued.

"The engineers will go over all the data that we‘ve collected, and they will prepare the next steps forward. It's been a busy first week after the summer break, so now we have our muscles all warmed up again and we‘re ready to go to Spielberg for the next race in Austria.”

The teams now move on to Austria for the next round of the season, which will get underway on Friday.
