It has been confirmed that Supercars will be adding a new venue to their 2018 calendar with a second race due to take place in South Australia's The Bend Motorsport Park on 24 to 26 August 2018.
The new event is courtesy of a joint partnership with the government, Supercars Australia and The Bend Motorsport Park.
The venue is Australia's newest FIA Category 2 racing circuit and the format will see a SuperSprint round conducted on the 18 turns, 4.9 kilometre International Circuit.
“The 2017-18 State Budget included a grant of $3 million over three years to Peregrine Corporation, to assist with setting up a second Virgin Australia Supercars Championship for South Australia. This is in addition to a previous State Government investment of $7.5 million towards the establishment of the motorsport park,” the South Australian premier said.
The track is completely different to the street circuit used in the Adelaide 500 and Supercars are confident that with its world-class design, the racing will be just as exciting and memorable for fans.
The Bend Motorsport Park will feature a 100-room hotel on pit lane overlooking the racing circuit and caravan and camping facilities that can cater for more than 10,000 people
