Heading into the latest Big Bash League season, there are certainly no shortage of storylines that could come together by campaign's end.

Will the Sydney Sixers secure a historic three-peat?

Or can a team like the Melbourne Renegades or the Hobart Hurricanes create a fairytale story?

With the season set to commence this Sunday, we here at Zero Wicket have gone through each squad and identified the potential breakout star, the strongest international import and the key players ahead of ball one of BBL11.

Sydney Thunder

Breakout player: Oliver Davies

Talented young batsman Oliver Davies looks to be an exciting prospect for Australian cricket moving forward.

The right-hander has appeared in eight BBL games with just 90 runs at an average of 15, but it's his 152.54 strike rate that has resonated with the fans.

At just 21 years old, Davies will likely open the batting for the Thunder, potentially alongside the big-hitting Alex hales

International star: Alex Hales (England)

English international Alex Hales is no stranger to the BBL.

BBL11 will mark his sixth season competing in the Australian domestic league, and he's coming off a terrific BBL10 campaign.

Last season, Hales compiled 543 runs at an average of 38.79 and an impressive 161.61 strike rate. The Englisman also bludgeoned a high score of 110.

Key Player: Tanveer Sangha

In his first season, teenager Tanveer Sangha was one of the best performing bowlers in BBL10. Now 20 years of age, Sangha will be a vital part of the Thunder's bowling lineup.

Last Season, Sangha took 21 wickets at an average of 18.29. Another good season from the talented young spinner could see him rewarded with international selection and further T20 opportunities.
