Mobil 1 HSV racer James Courtney is looking forward to getting back to racing after being forced to sit out most of the last round at the Symmons Plains Raceway on the Saturday due to being a part of the big 12 car pileup that saw his car derailed for the remainder of the weekend.
James has actually swapped to chassis 21 for the weekend, as chassis 22 is back at the team's fabrication shop where it is being cleaned up and re-welded from the horrendous Tassie incident.
Now it's time to move on to Phillip Island for the next event this weekend, a track that is as different as night and day compared to Tasmania. It's fast, it's flowing, and the corners are long and loaded. That means it's vital to have a car that has good mid corner speed and stability and James can't wait to get started!
“I'm pretty keen to put Tasmania in the rear view mirror, go out and have a full weekend of racing. It wasn't fun sitting on the sidelines,” James said. “Last year wasn't that flash for us there, but we are looking forward to getting there and showing the improvement we have made. We had a ride day there late last year and the car was much better than it was during the race weekend.”
“There is nowhere to hide at Phillip Island. You are in the corner for so long that you need to be on top of it all. A bad car is going to show up pretty easily, so it's important that Terry (Kerr – Engineer) and I do a good job with the testing and maximize the time on track.”
