Australia's young rising star, Thomas Maxwell, is busy preparing himself for a massive few weeks of racing, the first of which will take place this coming weekend at the Silverstone Circuit in England, home to the British Formula One GP.
After making his debut in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in Monza two weeks ago where he finished a superb fifth in race 2, Thomas will make his return to Silverstone where he raced in the British F3 championship almost twelve months ago.
He finished 9th in race 1 and 16th in race, however the third and final race of the weekend was cancelled due to heavy rain, something the Tech 1 Racing driver is hoping doesn't happen again this weekend.
Thomas is happy with the way his 2017 season has started and is confident heading into the Silverstone event….
“I think we've gotten off to a great start to the year so we'll be looking to continue on from where we left off,” Thomas said. “I feel quite confident with the development and work we've put in for the next few weeks.”
Thomas's teammate at Tech1 Racing, Frenchman Gabriel Aubry, secured a podium finish at the Monza round so he knows the potential is there for him to fight for victories, and that's exactly what he plans on doing.
“I know we're capable of a good performance, I just need to execute everything as we've planned. We've got a massive few weeks ahead of us at some very spectacular tracks and I'm really excited to get stuck into it.”
The action will get underway on Thursday May 11 with four 45 minute tests between 9 am and 3.35 pm. This will be followed by two collective tests on Friday, both for 50 minutes duration before qualifying takes place on Saturday morning ahead of race one at 2 pm local time.
Another qualifying session will take place on Sunday morning ahead of the second and final race at 1:40 pm.
