It wasn't the easiest of weekends at the Barbagello Raceway for Preston Hire racer Lee Holdsworth. After a solid qualifying performance for the opening race of the weekend on Saturday that saw him line up in eighth place on the grid, an issue with a jammed wheel nut during his one and only pit stop sent him tumbling back down the order to eventually take the checkered flag in 15th place overall.
Unfortunately things didn't get much better for Sunday's 200km race where he struggled for grip on his Preston Hire Commodore and found himself fighting understeer as he tried to maintain position and stay with the rest of the field.
The team had changed the car in the hope of finding Lee a better balance for the second race of the weekend but sadly they went in the wrong direction and there was very little Lee could do.
“We found gains with our qualifying car this weekend, but we missed the mark for our race car,” Lee said. “We had too much understeer and as a result bad tyre life, so there are a few things to look at before we press onto the next round.”
The team are looking now forward to regrouping for the Winton SuperSprint in a fortnight's time.
