The Newcastle Jets and striker Milos Trifunovic have agreed to a mutual termination of the Serbian's contract.

Trifunovic's contract was due to expire at the end of the current season, but he will leave the club after just 22 games and nine goals this season.

"Trifunovic, whose contract with the Jets was due to end at the completion of the current Hyundai A-League campaign, has expressed his desire to take up an opportunity abroad," the Jets said in a statement.

"The Jets thank Trifunovic for his efforts and professionalism during his time at the club, and wish him and his young family well for the future."
