Big serving Aussie Sam Groth is through to the second round of the Australian Open after a tough four set win over Adrian Mannarino.

Groth won the match 7-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in two hours and thirty eight minutes.

Groth blasted 27 aces and amassed a huge 64 winners. However, the Aussie will want to improve on his 51 unforced errors in the second round, with his opponent likely to be world No.2 Andy Murray.

Meanwhile, fellow Australian John Millman is also through to the second round after his opponent Diego Schwartzaman retired hurt in the fourth set, with the Aussie leading two sets to one.
