Although the sun shone on the Red Bull Ring for both Friday free practice sessions, there was a short burst of rain between them, however, this did not prevent Scuderia Ferrari driver, Sebastian Vettel, from going through his planned programme, the world championship leader finishing the day second fastest overall.
“Today we did a lot of laps and learnt a lot about the car,” commented Seb. “We had a good feel with it and that is what we need. So, we'll see what we can do tomorrow. We understood the problems we had in Baku, but here it's completely different. “
“The weather and the asphalt temperature are not the same as they were there. Today it is still difficult to judge, but the car is very good and we made some improvements. We proceed step by step; tomorrow we'll have another free practice session and then we'll see”.
Sebastian did have a few incidents during the day, however none were serious enough to cause any major issues for the German driver. He will now be boosted by the fact that his main totle rival, Lewis Hamilton, will have a five place grid drop for Sunday's race.
