As far as Silverstone goes, Sebastian Vettel is on the same page as his Ferrari team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen, in that it is a huge piece of Motor Racing's history and as such he is hoping to extend his championship lead even further here this weekend.
While this is the home track to his championship rival, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian still receives a lot of healthy support from the British crowd and he is hoping to give them something to cheer about.
Also, he will be testing the Shield Protection system on his Ferrari in FP1 later today.
“Usually there is a big passion for racing in this country, so it is great to be here, as it is one of the places where the history of motor racing was made,” he said. “As for us, our car was good last week and it should be ok here, too. I didn't win in Austria and I really wanted to, but that's how it goes: sometimes we succeed and sometimes we don't.”
“The most important thing is to be up there, not just in terms of results, but in terms of pace. Also, I'll test the Shield protection for a few laps in P1. So far I've only seen it on a computer screen, so I'll check it out”.
Sebastian also took part in the demonstration run through the streets of London on Wednesday and was thrilled with the reception he received from the local fans….
"I enjoyed it very much. I think it was something unique, to have central London partly shut down to have us running up and down, so it was nice,” he said. “It's always nice to get close to the people and most of them seemed to be very excited. Usually there's quite a big passion for racing in this country, so it's great to be here."
