WA teenager suspended after betting on cricket matches

Western Australian fast bowler Piepa Cleary has been banned for six months for breaching the Cricket Australia Anti-Corruption code.

Cleary, 19, was handed a 24-month ban, with 18 months suspended, for placing six bets worth a total of $15.50 on the third Test between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide late last year.

The WA and Perth Scorchers player, who admitted to placing the bets, is the second female player to be charged this summer, after ACT and Sydney Sixes player Angela Reakes was suspended for betting on the World Cup final.
