Star Wallabies player Lukhan Salakaia-Loto has signed an extension with Rugby Australia through to 2028.

Making his Wallabies debut at just 21 years old, the lock and backrower's contract extension ensures he will remain in contention for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

It also guarantees his continued presence at the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby Pacific.

"Securing my future is massively important for me and my family and it's pretty cool that I get to continue my career here at the Reds," the 28-year-old said in a statement.

"I feel like I'm only just getting started in the second chapter of my career and that my best rugby is ahead of me and hopefully I can put my best foot forward in a Reds jersey and a Wallabies jersey is something that I can continue to earn.โ€

"The goal at the beginning of last year was to put the Wallabies jersey on again and it's the goal again this year but I know that only comes from my performances for the Reds.โ€

The Wallabies will host Fiji in Newcastle on Sunday July 6, in their only game before the much-anticipated three-Test series against the British & Irish Lions.ย

While the squads are yet to be announced, Salakaia-Loto was part of a 40-player contingent at the final Wallabies training camp in January.ย

He featured in 11 of the Wallabies' 13 Tests in 2024.
