Following their 2-1 win over a tough Wellington Phoenix side last weekend, Western Sydney are aiming to make it five wins in a row for the first time since their record breaking ten-match winning streak in season one when they face Central Coast on Sunday.
After gaining just one point in their first three matches, the Wanderers have subsequently taken all 12 possible points and are just one point behind table-topping Brisbane Roar and level with reigning champions Melbourne Victory, who have a game in hand.
New signing Andreu, who joined the club from Racing de Santander after spending three seasons with the Spanish side, says team spirit has powered their past four victories and put them in title contention.
โEveryone is playing well and that is the most important thing. There's a great atmosphere, not just in those playing in the first 11 but also those on the bench and this is the way to win the title.โ Andreu said.
Andreu has formed a strong relationship with his fellow midfielders Dimas and Mitch Nichols and says he has settled into Western Sydney life quite comfortably.
โIt's perfect, obviously the first few weeks were a bit difficult, the language, the new city, new teammates, but now after three or four months, everything is clear and I'm really enjoying the city a lot.
The Mariners had a strong start to this season's campaign, but have fallen away from the top six and with this week's game against the Wanderers, who are expected to bring up to 5000 fans to Gosford, going to be a challenge for Tony Walmsley's side.
Defender Matt Sim believes the Mariners are improving.
โI think its there for everyone to see, we are playing an attacking brand of football that is creating plenty of chances,โ Sim said.
โWe just need to be that little bit more ruthless and have the ball drop for us a little more and I am sure the results will turn.
Wanderers full-back Scott Neville says the club must not get too carried away with their performances with improvement needed from this group of players.
โThe mood is really good, we're not getting complacent and we still have a long way to go. We're nowhere near where we want to be. But the wheels are in motion, we're starting to hit our straps and, if we can keep this run going, it will breed a lot of confidence into the team,โ he said.
Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners do battle on Sunday with kick-off at 5pm AEST from Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.
