Finally the bitter pay dispute between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers Association looks to be over.
Following Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland's press conference last week, in which he stated more urgency was needed to complete talks with the Test series against Bangladesh starting later this month, the parties are believed to have come a long way.
The two parties are reportedly close to signing off on an in-principle agreement that will allow the upcoming Two-Test tour of Bangladesh to go ahead.
Australian vice-captain, Dave Warner told Channel Nine on Wednesday night, he expects a deal to be finalised within the next two days.
“We're hoping a deal gets done in the next 24 to 48 hours,” Warner said.
“We want to get out there and play cricket. That's our job, that's what we love doing and all the fans out there really want to see us back on the park and playing well.”
With an in-principle agreement all but finalised and both the ACA and CA finally coming to agreement on several key issues, they have been redrafting the Heads of Agreement this week to finalise the deal.
The Test players are due to come together for a training camp in Darwin next week, with the first Test against Bangladesh beginning on August 18.
