Warner, Maxwell lead Australia to final ball win

Glenn Maxwell and Dave Warner have helped Australia to a five wicket win thanks to a record breaking partnership in the second T20 against South Africa overnight, leveling the series at 1-1.

The pair shared a 161-run partnership, a record stand for the fourth wicket in a T20 international. Mitch Marsh and James Faulkner then combined to hit the winning the runs on the last ball of the match in a thrilling final over to chase down the huge target of 205.

Australia looked to be in trouble early in the chase, as the tourists slumped to 3-32. But Warner and Maxwell then went to town on the Proteas' bowling attack. Warner, 77 off 40, and Maxwell, 75 off 43, were in simply stunning touch, hitting 13 fours and eights sixes between them.

It was the first time Australia has successfully chased down a target in excess of 200 runs in a T20 international.

Earlier, South Africa scored 7-204, thanks to a brilliant 79 from 41 balls from Faf du Plessis and important cameos from de Kock (44) and Miller (33).

Faulkner was the pick of the bowlers for the Aussies, with 3-28 from four overs.
