West Indies Sydney Thunder all rounder Andre Russell has been banned hit with a one-year ban for a doping violation.
Russell, who committed the violation just under a year ago, registered three whereabouts filing failings in 2015, which under the World Anti-Doping Agency rules, constitutes a failed drugs test.
"Mr Russell was found guilty of a doping violation," chairman of the independent anti-doping tribunal, Hugh Faulkner, said in a statement.
Russell has played for the Sydney Thunder for the past two seasons and was a vital member of the side's BBL05 champions winning team.
He ban starts from January 31.
