Australian youngster Brad Smith could be in line for his maiden Liverpool starting appearance when the Reds travel to Sion in the Europa League on Friday morning (AEDT).

Regular first-choice left back Alberto Moreno has not made the trip to Switzerland, with Smith one of five Under 21s members called upon in Jurgen Klopp's 19-man squad.

The Socceroos international was recently used off the bench as Liverpool thrashed Southampton 6-1 in the League Cup, providing a late assist for Belgian striker Divock Origi.

Now, he is likely to battle with fellow youngster Connor Randall for a spot at full back as Liverpool looks to top Group B with a draw or a victory against Sion.
