Gusty Hume City proudly flew the flag for Australia's state league sides on Wednesday night, giving A-League champions Melbourne Victory a decent scare.
The FFA Cup's 2015 Cinderella story had enough chances to take the game into extra-time, but Hume eventually succumbed 3-0 at AAMI Park as Victory booked a final date against Perth Glory on Saturday week.
Besart Berisha's first half penalty and Kosta Barbarouses' late strike killed off Hume before Jason Geria's stoppage time goal flattered Victory.
The Victory got on the score sheet in slightly controversial fashion, with the game looking set to go into half-time deadlocked, Victory was gifted a 41st minute opener when Williams pointed to the spot after Bradley Walker tugged Besart Berisha's shirt, although the striker was no chance of reaching Kosta Barbarouses' cutback. Berisha made no mistake from the spot.
Hume felt hard done by, after Williams missed a more obvious penalty just five minutes in when Markelis' cross clearly struck Jason Geria's dangling arm.
Hume had far less possession, but ensured Victory earnt theirs with some strong tackles, one of which drew the ire of Berisha as a push and shove ensured with captain Hegarty.
Fatigue then set in as Hume players dropped like flies, as Barbarouses lashed home Berisha's lay-off before Geria scored a third in what was a cruel finish for the Hume.
