Quarterback Joe Burrow has sustained a grade-three turf toe injury in the Cincinnati Bengals' week two game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which the Bengals won 31-27.

If Burrow decides to get surgery, which seems likely, it would mean the star would be expected to be out for at least three months, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Burrow suffered the injury following a sack as he went to the ground, grabbing at his ankle, which caused him to be helped off the field. The 28-year-old was reported to be moving around on a one-legged scooter, putting no weight on his injured foot.

The sixth-year pro has found it hard to stay fully healthy in the NFL thus far into his career, with this being the third occasion that he will miss significant time.

Burrow is widely considered to be one of the better players in the NFL when healthy. He finished fourth in the 2024 MVP race, after recording the most yards thrown with 4,918 and most touchdowns thrown with 43 for the season.

Experienced quarterback Jake Browning will now be the starter for the Bengals as they hope to get back into the NFL playoffs. Browning was 4-3 as a starter in 2023 and was able to propel the Bengals to a victory today.

Burrow and Bengals fans hope he will be back sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, they will be praying for some heroics out of Browning for the games he will be starting.
